The Director (Technical) of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited, Prithvipal Singh, has been booked for amassing disproportionate assets. A case has been registered against him at Chitaipur police station in Varanasi, based on a Tahrir filed by Vigilance Inspector Chandrabhushan Prajapati. It has been alleged that Singh has earned INR 97 lacs more than his income and has made property in many cities, including Varanasi.
The Vigilance department had been asked to investigate the property of Prithvipal Singh by, the chairman of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited. During the investigation, it was found that from June 1, 1986, to June 30, 2022, the income of Prithvipal Singh was INR 4 crores 62 lacs 82 thousand 776.
But he had spent INR 5 crores 60 lacs 62 thousand 667 during the same period. It was revealed that Prithvipal Singh spent INR 97 lacs 79 thousand 891 more than his income, 21.13 percent more than his legitimate earnings. The source of this money is being investigated.
Inspector Chandrabhushan Prajapati stated that the investigation into Prithvipal Singh’s financial activities revealed that he spent more than his legitimate earnings, constituting an offence under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.
Consequently, a case has been registered against Prithvipal Singh at Chitaipur police station in Varanasi under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Amassing disproportionate assets is a serious crime and can lead to severe legal consequences, including imprisonment and fines.
