Keeping the situation in mind, Gujarat authorities have taken precautionary measures to manage the surging water levels in the state’s prominent dams due to incessant rains. According to the administration, the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada River and the Ukai Dam over the Tapi River have been witnessing significant water release, which is leading to serious concerns for floods in the low-lying areas.
National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), along with fire brigade and other rescue teams have been evacuating people from the affected area. As per officials, around 206 villagers have been evacuated and have been shifted to safer places, following the release of excess water from the Sardar Sarovar Dam in Gujarat’s Narmada district.
