Two days after a coach gutted in fire due to unauthorised use of a cooking gas cylinder inside a train compartment at Madurai railway station in Tamil Nadu, five residents of Uttar Pradeshs Sitapur have been arrested on Monday.The incident has claimed nine lives and left several injured. Notably, 28 survivors of the Madurai train accident were brought to Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday afternoon via Indigo flights.The accused have been identified as Shubham Kashyap (19), Narendra Kumar (61), Hardik Sahani (24), Deepak Kumar (23), and Satya Prakash (45) who hailed from Uttar Paadesh.VIDEO | Madurai train fire incident: Five people were arrested by the Railway Police in Madurai, Chennai earlier today. pic.twitter.com/UMdauB3vun— Press Trust of India (@PTI_News) August 28, 2023According to the sources, Madurai Government Railway Police (GRP), who have made the arrests, charged the accused under IPC Section 304 B (an act done with knowledge likely to cause death) and IPC Section 285 (Negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter). Following the arrests, the Madurai police informed the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government about the developments.
