A massive fire broke out at a girls’ paying-guest hostel in Delhi‘s Mukherjee Nagar in the late hours on Wednesday evening. According to the sources, at least 35 girls have been evacuated safely who were stuck inside the building.

As per officials, the fire broke out at around 5:45 PM on Wednesday. At least 20 fire tenders were rushed to the incident spot to douse the fire and carried on the rescue operations. Some of the girls have been shifted to hospital for medical assistance, officials added.

It has been reported that the fire broke out after as short circuit at the metre board installed near the staircase and then spread to upper floors.

Meanwhile, Delhi Fire Service Director, Atul Garg informed, “The rescue operation continued for 1.5 hours and all the girls were safely rescued. Fire has been doused and there is no injury to anyone. It seems that the fire started from a meter board installed near the staircase and spread to the upper floors. The situation is under control and a cooling operation is underway.”

Apart from this, a fire incident has been reported from Delhi’s Nehru Nagar area on Thursday morning. No casualties reported.
