Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Member of Parliament, Raghav Chadha has announced that will be moving before appropriate jurisdictions for filing a defamation case against the selected media houses for publishing falsehoods and escalating his name falsely in the Delhi Excise duty case.
Taking to Twitter, he said that he is pleased to see that many media houses made the decision to preserve the fundamental principles of their industry and abstained from spreading untrue information about his name being on an ED chargesheet. Many of the people who reported it yesterday have since withdrawn their reports.
He further said that he is bringing defamation lawsuits against those who haven’t before the proper authorities, including the State of Punjab. The fourth pillar of democracy is the media, and it must not be undermined, he continued.
I am pleased to note that many media groups chose to uphold the basic tenets of their profession and refrained from publishing falsehoods about my name appearing in an ED chargesheet. Many of those who had reported it yesterday have now retracted it. (1/2)

Notably, Raghav Chadha on Tuesday claimed that the press stories and claims alleging that he is on the ED list are all fake and part of malicious propaganda to harm his reputation and credibility. He said he has not been named as an accused or even a suspect in any of the complaints filed by the Enforcement Directorate. He urged to refrain from malicious reportage and issue a clarification failing which, Raghav said, he would be forced to take legal action.
On Tuesday, during a press conference, Chadha requested the media and publication houses not to cause any incorrect reporting and clarify this issue, else he will be constrained to take legal action.
