The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at the premises of DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy and his MP son Gautham Sigamani in a link with a money laundering case on Monday, said media reports.

The raids by the ED are being undertaken at the premises of father-son in the capital city Chennai and Villapuram, the reports said.
Taking notes from the money laundering case is linked to alleged irregularities when the state minister, K Ponmudy was winning his ministry (between 2007 and 2011) and there were several allegations of violation of quarry licence conditions leading to a loss of about ₹ 28 crore to the exchequer.
Moreover, the ED had recently initiated similar action against senior DMK leader and TN Transport Minister Senthil Balaji.
