An earthquake of magnitude 3.2 on the Richter scale hit the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand in the wee hours of Thursday, according to the National Center for Seismology.
Taking to X the Seismology department wrote “ Earthquake of Magnitude:3.2, Occurred on 05-10-2023, 03:49:47 IST, Lat: 31.00 and Long: 78.29, Depth: 5 Km, Location: Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand”

In the early hours of Thursday around 3:49 am, the tremors were felt in the region. The depth of the quake has been recorded at 5km, NCS said.
This is the second quake in to hit Uttarakhand after the state was struck by an earthquake of magnitude 4.3 on Tuesday.
A tremor of 1.6 magnitude was reported at Hasori village in central Maharashtra’s Latur district on Wednesday evening, PTI reported. No casualties or damage to property were reported. The tremor was reported at 8.57 pm with its epicentre 7 km below the ground, it said.
Nepal was struck with four consecutive earthquakes with the strongest being of magnitude 6.2 on Tuesday. The tremors of the earthquake were felt throughout parts of India. The epicentre of the strongest jolt was located 206 km southeast of the pilgrimage town of Joshimath in Uttarakhand and 284 km north of Uttar Pradesh’s capital, Lucknow.
The tremors of the earthquake were felt throughout several parts of North India, including Delhi NCR, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
