Delhi is witnessing is drop in temperatures due to the departures of Southwest monsoons from the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the national capital will witness a significant drop in the temperatures from next week. The hilly regions of North India are also set to experience heavy snowfall which will influence the weather in the plains of North-west India.

The minimum temperature in Delhi today is likely to hover around 21 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature. might reach 36 degrees Celsius. The wind will move around 317 degrees with a gust speed of 8.65

Winter approaching in Delhi

Delhi residents are asked to brace up for chillier mornings and evenings. Light fog is forecasted during these times for the upcoming two to three days. Moreover, the incidents of stubble burning in the neighbouring states are expected to rise as well.

On Monday the temperature in Delhi took a dip by two degrees compared to the temperature on Sunday. The minimum temperature was recorded at 20.1 degrees Celcius, three degrees below usual. Over the next few days, the minimum temperature in the city is expected to hover around the 19 to 20 degrees celsius mark.

However, the maximum temperature is expected to stay around the season’s average of 35 celsius, bringing slightly cooler mornings and evenings.

Delhi air pollution

The pollution level in the city stood at a moderate 145 on Monday, as per the Air Quality Index (AQI). The Dilshad Garden area emerged as the most polluted area of Delhi while the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium reported the cleanest air quality with an AQI of 87.

The centre’s Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) came into effect in Delhi on Sunday, October 1, however, no phase of it has been rolled out due to current moderate AQI.

Winter arrival in North India

With with approaching, many Northern states are experiencing cold and chiller weather. Visuals showed Gulmarg in Kashmir covered in snow giving a beautiful picturesque white landscape.

Snowfall covered the high peaks of Lahaul, while Shimla saw a few rain showers. The Manali, Lahaul-Spiti and Kullu experienced a mix of show fall and rain. The state of Himachal also experienced hailstorms in some parts.
