The Supreme Court, on Monday, stopped a Delhi High Court order as per which two-wheeler taxis were allowed to operate in New Delhi. The SC invigorated the ban imposed by the government on Uber, rapido and other two-wheeler bike taxis to function in New Delhi.
The Supreme Court was hearing two pleas filed by the Delhi government against the high court permitting bike-taxi companies, Rapido and Uber, to work in the national capital till notification of the final policy by the administration on plying of two-wheeler passenger-transport vehicles.
The AAP government has challenged the May 26 order of the Delhi High Court in the Supreme Court requesting it not to take any forced action against the bike-taxi aggregators till the final policy was notified. The plea was heard by a vacation bench comprising justices Aniruddha Bose and Rajesh Bindal.
