Just a day after people celebrated Diwali by busting crackers across Delhi-NCR, a thick layer of smog has now covered the entire city and its neighbouring areas, contributing to the already deteriorating air quality. The Air Quality Index (AQI) at many places in Delhi-NCR continued to be in the poor category today (November 13).
Delhi’s AQI remained in the ‘severe’ or ‘severe plus’ category for the past several days, however following an intermittent rainfall on Friday, the average AQI slipped into the ‘poor category.’

Notably, Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government has imposed a complete ban on firecrackers. In the wake of the pollution situation, the government even considered the idea of 'artificial rain' to tackle the foul air in the city, until sudden rainfall brought a major respite, lowering the pollution level. However, Delhiites are now breathing toxic air quality amid bursting firecrackers.
