The national capital on Thursday recorded its lowest temperature of the season at 15.9 degrees Celsius, at Safdarjung, the city's base weather station. The temperature was three degrees below the normal temperature and indicated the onset of winter in the Union territory.
The temperature in Delhi is expected to have a maximum temperature of 31 degrees Celcius and a minimum temperature of 16 degrees Celcius on Friday.
The Delhi ridge in North Delhi also recorded a minimum temperature of 13.1 degrees Celcius on Thursday. It was the first time that Delhi saw such low temperatures during this time of the year, as per media reports.
The India Meteorological Department recorded a minimum temperature of 15.6 degrees Celcius in Lodhi Road and Mungeshpur in north-west Delhi. Moreover, Ayanagar and Palam saw 15.9 and 17.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) showed 'moderate' air quality and stood at 121 as of 4 p.m. on Thursday. Moreover, the mercury dipped suddenly in the national capital due to the north-westerly winds, which brought cold air from the western Himalayan region, including J&K and Himachal Pradesh.
On Friday the AQI was recorded at 108 and fell under the 'moderate' category, according to SAFAR India.

These north-westerly winds brought light rain to the city on October 17 and remained cloudy for a few days following the rain shower.
