Delhi: 3 men stripped naked, thrashed and paraded on-camera over suspicion of mobile theft

Three men suspected of mobile theft were allegedly stripped naked, thrashed, and paraded by a group of 30-35 people in Delhi's Narela area on Saturday.

A shocking video is taking rounds of the internet, where three men were allegedly stripped naked and then thrashed by a group on Saturday after they were suspected of being mobile phone thieves. This incident, the video which went viral, happened in the Narela area in Delhi.

Following this depressing incident, a case has been lodged and police initiated a probe into the matter after a call was received at the PCR (police control room), informing the police that two-three men, aged between 23 - 26 years", were being paraded naked on the streets by around "30-35 people" and the hands of the trio were tied up.

Reportedly, the victims, after being humiliated, fled the scene and efforts to trace them were underway.

"It appears that after being assaulted and humiliated the three men fled," the police said, adding that they received a call on Saturday at around 11:56 am, reportedly from the site of the incident, but nothing was found when a team of officials visited the area.”

A case has been filed under Sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) and 355 (assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour a person, otherwise than on grave provocation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Meanwhile, the police are also verifying whether allegations of mobile theft against the three were true.
