Update (December 21, 12:24 PM): Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal who was summoned by Enforcement Directoriate on December 21, has responded to Ed saying, "This ED summon is also illegal like the previous summon issued by the agency. ED should withdraw this summon as it is politically motivated. I have lived my life with honesty and transparency. I have nothing to hide."

Arvind Kejriwal to skip ED call again, leaves for 10-day meditation camp

Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi, has skipped his second summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the Delhi excise policy case. Kejriwal left Delhi for a 10-day Vipassana meditation course at a centre in Hoshiarpur, Punjab.

The course was already scheduled and finalised before the ED summons in Delhi Excise case on December 18. Kejriwal’s office announced his plan for the meditation camp on December 16.

It is to be noted here that this is the second time Kejriwal has skipped an ED summons in this case. Before this, he was summoned by ED on November 2 and termed the summons ‘politically motivated’ and illegal.

The ED is investigating alleged money laundering linked to the Delhi excise policy, which was scrapped by the government in July 2022. Two AAP leaders - Sanjay Singh and Manish Sisodia, have been arrested in the case.

According to the sources, Kejriwal is expected to return to Delhi on December 30 after the completion of the meditation course from the Vipassana meditation centre. The course requires participants to maintain noble silence and refrain from all forms of communication.

Speaking about this on Tuesday, AAP Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha said anyone who questioned the BJP government was being arrested. “If senior leaders of the AAP like Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and Satyendar Jain express their willingness to join the BJP, they would be out of jail within two minutes and the BJP would warmly welcome them into their party. We have seen the same scenario in Maharashtra,” he had said.
