The BJP-backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) won three seats (president, secretary, joint secretary), and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) won the vice president post in the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections in 2023.

Tushar Dedha elected President

Tushar Dedha from the ABVP won the president’s post by 3115 votes. Aprajita from the ABVP won the secretary post with 12937 votes and Sachin Basla won the joint secretary post with 9995 votes. Total votes received by the ABVP candidates are 23,460 votes, 24,534 votes and 24,955 votes, respectively.

While, Abhi Dahiya from the NSUI won the vice president post. He received a total of 22,331 votes.

The vote rate was greater this year than it was in 2019. The turnout for the most recent election was 39.90%.

Students from at least 52 colleges and departments affiliated with Delhi University cast their votes on Friday, September 22. It is to be noted here that the DUSU elections are being held after a gap of three for the posts of Central Panel President, Vice President, Secretary and Joint Secretary. Notably, the ABVP won three of the four seats in the 2019 elections as well.

The most recent DUSU elections took place in 2019. Due to COVID-19, the elections could not be held in 2020 or 2021, and elections might not have been held in 2022 due to potential delays to the academic calendar.

According to the information, a total of 24 candidates from various student union groups, including Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), All India Students Association (AISA), Students Federation of India (SFI), and National Students Union of India (NSUI), were in the race.
