Delhi government on Friday declared that November 19, 2023, which will also be the main day, also known as Surya Shashthi of Chhath Puja will be considered as Dry Day. According to the sources, the order has been issued by the Commissioner of Excise, Delhi on Friday.The rule has been issued in the pursuance of the provisions of Rule 52 of Delhi Excise Rules, 2010. The following date shall be observed as Dry Day in the National Capital Territory of Delhi by all L-1, L1F, L-2, L-3, L-4, L-5, L-6, L-6FG, L-6FE, L-8, L-9, L-10, L-11, L-14, L-18, L-23, L-23F, L-25, L-26, L-31, L-32, L-33, L-34 and L-35 licensees of the Excise department and opium vends located in Delhi.19th November to be Dry Day in Delhi on the occasion of Chhath Puja: Commissioner of Excise, Government of Delhi issues order pic.twitter.com/5eSrbhaECy— ANI (@ANI) November 17, 2023The notification further reads that the licensees shall not be entitled to any compensation on account of any change affected in the above list.Meanwhile, Delhi government has also made a 10-point action plan for the smooth conduction of Chhath Puja Mahaparv. The plan will come into effect from November 17, Nahay Khay which is Day 1 of the four-day festival. The plan will include the construction of the ghats and provision of lights and sanitation on the ghats.
