Amidst the backdrop of the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) summons, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal has come forward, alleging that the summonses were strategically issued to impede his campaigning for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Kejriwal, during a press meet on January 4, 2024, vehemently denied any involvement in corruption related to the Delhi liquor policy case, asserting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is orchestrating these actions to hinder his political activities.

In the press conference, Kejriwal questioned the legitimacy of the summons, emphasising that despite two years of investigations and numerous raids, the BJP's agencies have failed to unearth any corruption in the Delhi liquor policy case. He challenged the disappearance of alleged crores and asserts the absence of a single paisa of corruption. Kejriwal portrayed the summons as a tactic to suppress his active participation in the Lok Sabha elections.

ED's actions and Kejriwal's response

Kejriwal, who chose to skip the third summons by the ED, defended his non-compliance by labelling the summons as illegal. He accused the BJP of aiming not to investigate but rather to prevent him from campaigning.

Undeterred by the summons, Kejriwal has announced a three-day tour of Gujarat, coinciding with the looming Lok Sabha polls. During this tour, he plans to address public meetings, interact with party workers, and potentially meet with jailed AAP leader Chaitar Vasava, indicating his commitment to continuing political activities despite the ongoing controversy.
