Delhi, on Monday saw its hottest September day in the past 14 years. According to the information shared by IMD, the maximum temperature on Monday was 40.1 degrees Celsius, which was six degrees above the normal as compared to other years. In addition to this, the data shared by IMD claims that September 4, also recorded the highest temperature recorded since 2009.

If we go by IMD data, all-time record for the highest maximum temperature in September, 1938 was 40.6 degrees Celsius.

The weather service has also reported that people saw an increase in temperature with clear skies and little rain in August, which is typically the rainiest month for the city. September has also seen no rain so far, when the average amount for the month up to September 4 is 32.4 mm.

IMD further forecast very light rainfall in Delhi on Tuesday and Wednesday, while the rest of the week is set to remain dry. Apart from this, the maximum temperature could range from 35 to 37 degrees Celsius over the next six days.
