Update (June 2, 9:44 am): According to the latest information, the weapon used by the accused to brutally murder a 16-year-old teen in Delhi’s Shahbad Dairy area has been recovered by police officials on Thursday.

Notably, the accused was arrested by the Delhi police from Bulandshar and has been in custody since then. On Thursday he was presented at the residence of a judge due to security reasons, where his remand has been extended for three more days.

Duty Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) Nidhi Chitkara extended the custody of the accused for three more days after hearing the submission from Delhi Police.


Delhi teen murder case: Accused sent to 2-day police custody

According to the information, the accused has been presented before the Duty magistrates on Tuesday morning due to security reasons. Reportedly two-day remand has been granted by Duty Metropolitan Magistrate Jyoti Nain after hearing the submissions of the Delhi police. Delhi police sought the remand of the accused on the ground that the weapon used for the murder was not recovered yet and also, he is changing his statements again and again which need to be verified.

Notably, the accused was arrested by Delhi police from Bulandshahr in UP on Monday.

An FIR has been registered in the case under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code at Shahbad Dairy police station.

Additionally, a three-person committee team led by Delina Khongdup has been constituted to investigate the situation, and Rekha Sharma, the chair of the National Commission for Women, wrote to the commissioner of the Delhi Police requesting that a fair and timely investigation be conducted into the matter.

Notably, the CCTV footage of the alleged murderer shows that he repeatedly stabbed the girl with a knife and continued to do so even after she dropped to the ground. And video evidence revealed that during it all, individuals were walking while observing the situation as it developed.

Delhi CM announced ex-gratia

Meanwhile, the chief minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal has announced the ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the family of deceased and asserted that he will also assure that accused get the harshest punishment.
