In another incident reported from the national capital, a 23-year-old man allegedly shot dead a 42-year-old woman outside her house in Vaishali in Dabri Extension of southwest Delhi and later killed himself minutes later on Thursday night.

According to the police officials, the man used the same pistol which he used to kill the lady. The preliminary investigation reveals that the pistol was found in the three-storeyed building in the same neighbourhood where he lived with his family in a rented flat.

The senior officials informed that both met at a gym two years back, but the woman’s husband and in-laws did not approve their friendship. However, the police did not comment on the reason for killing.

“What exactly triggered the man, identified by his first name Ashish, to kill the woman, Renu Goyal, before killing himself is a matter of probe. No suicide note was recovered on Ashish or from his house. We are speaking with members of both families, their relatives, neighbours, and friends for clues that may help us the reason behind the murder and suicide,” said deputy commissioner of police (Dwarka) Harsha Vardhan.

the officer further informed that according to the CCTV footage, the man shot the lady from close range, and thereafter he left the area.

“Investigators are scanning the cellphones of Goyal and Ashish to see if there were any text messages that could help them ascertain if there were serious issues between them. There is a possibility that the woman was trying to withdraw herself from the friendship and Ashish did not like it. The source of the firearm is also being ascertained,” said a police officer on conditions of anonymity.

The investigation is still on.

Another incident has been reported from Delhi’s Malviya Nagar where a girl was found dead in a park near Aurobindo College. The accused has been arrested by Delhi Police on Friday.

Here’s what Swati Maliwal said

The chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, Swati Maliwal, took note of the incident and tweeted, “The law and order situation in Delhi is in turmoil. Two incidents took place today- a girl was shot in Dabri and the second incident took place near Aurbindo College where another woman was beaten to death by an iron rod. I appeal to the Central govt to call a meeting regarding the safety of women in Delhi. DCW is taking cognizance of these incidents and we are issuing notices for the same.”
