A senior neurosurgeon at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi has been attacked by a patient who came to see him for consultation. The incident was reported on Wednesday when the patient attacked the doctor with a knife in his chamber.

According to the police officials, the 21-year-old patient was undergoing treatment for depression under Dr Satnam Singh Chabbra, Chairman of Neurology at Sri Ganga Ram Hospital. The patient is identified as Rajkumar who hails from Bihar, suddenly got agitated and attacked the doctor with a knife concealed in his pocket.

However, timely alertness by the staff of the doctor and hospital security prevented the incident to be big. The sources also confirmed that the patient was accompanying his family members.

According to the information, the police officer and the doctor have received a small cut on his thumb, and action under the Prevention of Violence against Doctors, Medical Professionals and Medical Institution Bill, 2018 has been initiated against the patient on the complaint of the surgeon.
