Delhi Metro which works as a lifeline for the commuters, has issued an advisory for the upcoming 77th Independence Day. According to the updates, Delhi Metro will start at 5 AM on August 15 and will run at the frequency of 30 minutes till 6 AM. After that, the train services will resume as per the normal schedule. In addition to this, the parking services will see a halt from August 14, 2 PM till August 15.

Taking it to its official social media handle, the department tweeted, “To facilitate passengers to attend the Independence Day ceremony on 15th August 2023 (Tuesday), Delhi Metro train services on all Lines will start from 5 AM from all terminal stations. The trains will run with a frequency of 30 minutes on all the Lines till 6 AM.”

Another tweet reads, “After 6 AM, trains will run as per normal timetable. In addition, Parking facilities will NOT BE AVAILABLE at stations from 6 AM on 14/08/2023 till 2 PM on 15/08/2023 in view of security measures adopted on the occasion. However, train services will continue per normal schedule.”

Traffic Advisory for Independence Day

According to the updates, a curfew has been imposed in the area surrounding Red Fort, Rajghat and ITO. Meanwhile, there are some routes which are advised to be avoided during the travel.

A tweet shared by the Delhi Traffic Police says, “In view of #IndependenceDay Full Dress Rehearsal on August 13, 2023, #DelhiTrafficPolice advises commuters to avoid these roads and take alternate routes at the mentioned timings.”

Notably, over 1800 people including guests will attend the flag hoisting ceremony at the Red Fort by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Keeping full-proof security in mind, more than 1,000 cameras have been installed in and around the Mughal-era Fort.
