Today, Delhi government ministers Kailash Gahlot and Rajkumar Anand have been given Manish Sisodia’s portfolios. LG VK Saxena has approved the proposal of CM Arvind Kejriwal to give responsibility for new departments to these two. Late Tuesday evening, CM Kejriwal had decided to give 8 portfolios to Kailash Gahlot and 10 portfolios to Rajkumar Anand out of 18 portfolios of Manish Sisodia and sent it to LG VK Saxena for approval. The move was necessitated after deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and minister Satyendra Jain resigned from their respective positions.

Manish Sisodia had 18 portfolios in the Delhi government. After the approval of the LG, it was decided to give portfolios to ministers. It was decided to give Finance, Planning, Public Works Department, Power A, Home, UD, Irrigation and Flood Control and Water Department to Minister Kailash Gehlot and Rajkumar Anand will get Manish Sisodia’s 10 portfolios. It has been decided to give Anand the departments of Education, Land and Building, Awareness, Services, Tourism, Art Culture and Language, Labour, Employment, Health and Industries.

Following the resignation of Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain. Speculations were being made from yesterday itself that there could be a major reshuffle in the Kejriwal cabinet soon. It may be noted that Satyendar Jain, Health Minister in the Delhi Government, is in jail for the last 9 months in a money laundering case.

At the same time, on Sunday, Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI in the Delhi excise policy case. At present, Manish Sisodia is on five-day CBI remand. After both ministers resigned yesterday, Arvind Kejriwal accepted their resignations.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party, through its tweet slammed BJP, saying “Black day for democracy! BJP’s CBI named the world’s best education minister, who shaped the future of millions of children. Manish Sasodia arrested in a fake case. BJP has made this arrest due to political rivalry.”

In the meantime, Chief Minister Kejriwal has sent the names of Aam Aadmi Party MLAs Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi to LG VK Saxena to be elevated as ministers, causing a significant reshuffle in the Delhi cabinet as a result of Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain’s resignations.

Saurabh Bhardwaj, who is also the party’s national spokesperson, served on the Delhi Jal Board as its vice chairman. He was also a minister from Greater Kailash constituency during the first stint of the AAP government. Atishi, who represents the Kalkaji constituency, has been a key member of Sisodia’s education team. She had also contested the 2019 Lok Sabha polls from the East Delhi constituency and lost to BJP’s Gautam Gambhir.

Till Atishi and Bhardwaj are inducted into the cabinet, ministers Raaj Kumar Anand and Kailash Gahlot will take care of the portfolios that have fallen vacant following Sisodia’s resignation.
