Delhi had its coldest May in 36 years in May, according to the India Meteorological Department, when copious rain caused the average maximum temperature to drop to 36.8 degrees Celsius.

While the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted light to moderate-intensity rain throughout the entirety of Delhi and the surrounding areas, rain began to fall in several portions of the city in the early hours of Wednesday.

One of the residents of Delhi said, “I have never experienced such weather in May. This is because of climate change.”

Another one said, “The climate is changing due to global warming.”

As per a report shared by the India Meteorological Department only nine days in May saw maximum temperatures that exceeded 40 degrees, with two days of heat waves in Delhi.
