Update (July 28, 3:31 pm): Delhi police have arrested the accused named Irfan. According to the police officials the murderer is a resident of Sangam Vihar. After the preliminary investigation, police found that the victim’s family (Nargis) rejected a marriage proposal from accused (Irfan) side and after that the victim, stopped interacting with him.

The accused also revealed that they both came to the park together and then he hit her with an iron rod. After that he fled the spot leaving the rod at the site.

Delhi Police received the information at around 12.08 pm and arrested the accused, Irfan within three hours.


Delhi Police has found dead body of a girl on a bench in Malviya Nagar on Friday. According to officials, a crime incident has been reported from Vijay Mandal Park at Shivalik A block of Malviya Nagar.

As per the police officials, the girl, a college student, had come along with a male friend at a park near Aurobindo College. The girl has been reported to have an external injury mark on her head.

In addition to this, police officials also said that the boy who accompanied the victim to the park, fled the spot after hitting her with an iron rod, adding that blood oozed out of the girl’s head as she lay lifeless on the bench at this park near Aurobindo College.

The police has recovered the iron rod from the crime spot, adding that an investigation was underway.

“We received information that a 25-year-old girl was found dead near Aurobindo College in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar. An iron rod was found near her body. Our preliminary investigation suggests that the girl may have been struck with the rod. Further investigation is underway,” DCP South, Chandan Chowdhary, told ANI.

Meanwhile, the chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, Swati Maliwal, took note of the incident and tweeted, “The law and order situation in Delhi is in turmoil. Two incidents took place today- a girl was shot in Dabri and the second incident took place near Aurobindo College where another woman was beaten to death by an iron rod. I appeal to the Central govt to call a meeting regarding the safety of women in Delhi. DCW is taking cognizance of these incidents and we are issuing notices for the same”
