The Central government on Wednesday approved two new corridors for Delhi Metro Phase IV-Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block and Inderlok to Indraprastha. According to the sources, the projects will be completed at a cost of Rs 8,399 crore.

Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block

The Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block stretch will be about 8.4-kilometer long and will comprise of eight stations. This will connect the Silver, Magenta, Pink and Violet lines. 

Inderlok to Indraprastha 12.377 km

This will be an extension of the Green Line which will stretch for 11.3 kilometers of underground lines and 1.028 kms of elevated. This line comprises 10 stations. Along with this, it will provide interchange with the Red, Yellow, Airport Line, Magenta, Violet and Blue Lines.

The line will provide enhanced connectivity to the Bahadurgarh region of Haryana, which will the commuters from Haryana to easily connect to central and east Delhi.

The two new corridors will improve the connectivity and will reduce the travel time and will connect the busy areas of Delhi. The project will get completed by 2029.

Interchanging stations

Along these routes, eight new interchange stations, at Inderlok, Nabi Karim, New Delhi, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Lajpat Nagar, Chirag Dilli, and Saket G Block will be built. The interconnectedness of the Delhi Metro network's operational lines would be greatly enhanced by these stops.

The Delhi Metro is currently building a 65-kilometer network as part of its expansion in Phase-IV. It is anticipated that these new routes would be finished gradually by March 2026. At the moment, the DMRC has a 391-kilometer network with 286 stops.
