Delhi government on Tuesday has handed over the charge of services and vigilance department to AAP minister Atishi. Earlier, the portfolio was handled by health minister Saurabh Bhardwaj.

According to the sources, the proposal was sent to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, VK Saxena for the approval by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. The decision of Delhi government has come after Union home minister Amit Shah, in Parliament debate, repeatedly referred to how files were asked for at midnight, and officers were asked not to report to Special Secretary (Vigilance). He also referred to the transfer of the Services Secretary who immediately got transferred after the verdict of Supreme Court on May 11.

It is to be noted here, that Atishi was given additional charge of the revenue, planning and finance departments in June, after LG approved the proposal.

Atishi who represents Kalkaji constituency in Delhi, will now hold 14 portfolios, highest among all the ministers in Delhi government. Notably, Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj were inducted to the Delhi cabinet after the resignation of Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain.

In the last cabinet reshuffle, Atishi was given the charges of finance, planning and revenue. Before this, she has been taking care of power, education, art, culture and language, tourism, higher education, training and technical education and public relations.
