Swati Maliwal, the Delhi Commission for Women has sent notices to the Delhi Police and the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in response to a video that got surfaced on Instagram about alleged sexual harassment by a passenger on a SpiceJet flight.Taking it to Twitter, DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal shared the notice issued to the organisation which says, “The Delhi Commission for Women has taken suo-moto cognizance of a video being circulated on social media platform Instagram regarding alleged sexual harassment by a passenger onboard a flight.”The notice further says, “The incident is alleged to have occurred on a Spicejet Flight No. 157 flying from Delhi to Mumbai on 16.08.2023. It is alleged in the viral video that a passenger was trying to click obscene pictures of a woman flight attendant and his woman co-passenger. The department has also asked to furnish the details of accused arrested. And if not, explanation why the action is not been taken. And further, detailed report in the case latest by August 23, has been requested.Notably, the incident came into light months after two passengers de-boarded their SpiceJet flight at Delhis Indira Gandhi International Airport. Meanwhile, one of the passengers touched a crew member and behaved improperly. However, both the man and the co-passenger got handed over to the airport security at that time, and subsequently registered the case with Delhi Police.
