Rahul Gandhi to visit Ladakh today

According to the sources, Rahul Gandhi is all set to be on a two-day visit to Union Territory on Thursday and Friday.

Earlier, the Congress MP visited Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar and Jammu twice, however, he didn’t have a chance to visit Ladakh. His other plans are yet to be disclosed.

In January this year, he visited Srinagar and Jammu during his famous Bharat Jodo Yatra. That’s not it, he then visited the UT again on a personal visit a month after (February), but could not visit Ladakh.

Congress leader may embark on Europe trip

Apart from this, Rahul Gandhi plans to embark on a Europe trip, covering three countries namely Belgium, Norway, and France from the second week of September, sources said last week.

The sources said that the Congress leader will visit Europe in the second week of September, where he will be meeting European Union Parliamentarians, the Indian diaspora, and university students.

This foreign trip planning comes after his 10-day visit to the United States, which began in May this year.

During his US tour, Gandhi covered three cities namely San Francisco, Washington DC, and New York during his previous tour, where he interacted with the Indian diaspora, venture capitalists, and lawmakers, among others.

Rahul Gandhi’s foreign visits are talk of the town

Notably, Gandhi’s foreign visits are under fire since his controversial speech at Cambridge University In London earlier this year hit headlines, in which the Congress MP said that Indian democracy is under pressure and under attack.

In a lecture at Cambridge, Gandhi said, “Everybody knows and it’s been in the news a lot that Indian democracy is under pressure and under attack. I am an Opposition leader in India. We are navigating that (Opposition) space. The institutional framework which is required for a democracy– Parliament, free press, the judiciary, just the idea of mobilisation, moving around– all are getting constrained. So, we are facing an attack on the basic structure of Indian democracy.”
