Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij said that police authorities have issued a notice to Congress MLA Mamman Khan to appear for questioning on Wednesday in connection with the communal clashes that broke out in Nuh on July 31.

Investigations hinted at Mamman Khan’s connection with the alleged rioters, and the Congress MLA also visited the places where riots took place, Vij said.

“The police shall be questioning Congress MLA Mamman Khan tomorrow. The initial investigation so far has indicated that he was in contact with certain people who were involved in the violence,” Vij said.

“As per our initial investigation, wherever arson and clashes occurred on July 28, 29, and 30, Mamman Khan went there and he was in live contact with those [rioters] at all those places. There are so many angles and so many theories are still coming. We are conducting a fair inquiry.”

Vij alleged that Mamman Khan wrote a post on his Facebook profile, where he said, “I fought your fight in the assembly also, and I am with you in this fight too,” which allegedly incited rioters.

Haryana Home Minister points fingers at Congress for Nuh violence

The Home Minister, who said that about 510 people have been arrested in connection with the communal clashes that rocked Nuh on July 31, pointed fingers at the Congress party for the incident which claimed the lives of six people, including two home guards.

“Several people who have been arrested also have links with Congress. Those who indulged in vandalism are Congress workers or office bearers. About 510 people have been arrested so far, and about 140 FIRs have been lodged. As per the inquiry and the conclusions that are coming out, it seems that all this [violence] is done by the Congress,” he said.

“We are conducting a thorough investigation. Conducting such a massive investigation is a huge task and it has to be conducted based on all the facts and evidence,” the Home Minister added.

Mamman Khan, who is a Congress MLA representing the Ferozepur Jhirka constituency, has reportedly been served a notice under Section 160 of the CrPC and has been asked to present himself for questioning on August 30 at the Nagina Police Station.
