The father of one of the accused in the Mahadev betting app case has been found dead under dead in a village in Chhattisgarh's Durg district.

According to the reports, the body of Sushil Das, 62 was missing from the last two days and found in a well at Achhoti village under Anda police station limits on Tuesday afternoon. Prime facie it seems to be a suicide case. Sushil Das used to work as security guard for a private company.

Although it appears to be a suicide case at first glance, the official stated that the cause of death was still unknown. He said that additional inquiry was in progress and that the body had been transferred for post-mortem testing.

The deceased has been identified as father of Aseem Das, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the scam. On November 3, the ED detained Asim Das and another accused, constable Bhim Singh Yadav.

According to the ED, forensic research and testimony from Asim Das have uncovered important charges, including that Mahadev betting app promoters paid out almost Rs 508 crore to departing ex-Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. However, Baghel has denied all the allegations against him.
