Chhattisgarh Cabinet Expansion: In a significant development, nine BJP MLAs were sworn in as ministers on Friday, expanding the cabinet under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in Chhattisgarh. The move increased the cabinet's strength to 12.

New Ministerial Faces

The newly-inducted ministers, including Brijmohan Agrawal, Ram Vichar Netam, Dayaldas Baghel, Kedar Kashyap, Lakhanlal Dewangan, Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, OP Choudhary, Tankram Verma, and Laxmi Rajwade, took the oath of office and secrecy administered by Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his congratulations and best wishes, emphasising that all ministers would work towards the welfare of Chhattisgarh. He highlighted their commitment to the state's progress.

Priorities and Aspirations

Lakshmi Rajwade, a newly sworn-in minister, conveyed her happiness at representing not just the Bhatgaon constituency but the entire state. She pledged to prioritise women's issues, expressing confidence in achieving goals under Prime Minister Modi's leadership.

Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, another BJP MLA taking the oath, thanked the party leadership for entrusting a ministerial responsibility to someone from a small farmer family. He emphasised the BJP's commitment to the welfare of women, youth, and farmers.

Kedar Kashyap, expressing gratitude for the opportunity, pledged to meet expectations and work towards taking Prime Minister Modi's guarantees to every household. The new ministers echoed a collective commitment to the party's vision and objectives.

Assembly Speaker's Greetings

Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Raman Singh extended greetings to the new ministers, affirming their dedication to executing the party's manifesto for the betterment of the state.

Constitutional Framework and Election Recap

As per constitutional norms, Chhattisgarh, with a 90-member assembly, can have a maximum of 13 ministers, including the chief minister. The state witnessed polling in two phases, with the BJP securing 54 out of the 90 Assembly constituencies, while the Congress won 35 in the elections held on November 7 and November 17.

This cabinet expansion marks a strategic move by the BJP to strengthen its governance in the state, bringing in diverse talents to contribute to Chhattisgarh's development.
