The second phase of the Chhattisgarh assembly elections is scheduled to be held on November 17, 2023. A total of 70 seats in 19 districts will go to polls in this phase. Over 1.63 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the second phase. The counting of votes will take place on December 3, 2023.
The second phase of the Chhattisgarh assembly elections will see a fierce contest between the incumbent Congress party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Congress is hoping to retain power on the back of its development record, while the BJP is aiming to make a comeback after its defeat in the 2018 elections.
Apart from the Congress and BJP, other parties in the fray include the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and the Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC).
The key issues in the second phase of the Chhattisgarh assembly elections are expected to be employment, agriculture, education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.

Bhupesh Baghel: Incumbent Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and the INC's candidate for the Patan assembly seat.
Mohammad Akbar: Congress candidate for the Kawardha assembly seat. He is the only Muslim candidate in the Chhattisgarh assembly elections.
Savitri Manoj Mandavi: Congress candidate for the Bhanupratappur assembly seat. She is the wife of late Congress MLA Manoj Mandavi.
Raman Singh: Former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and the BJP's candidate for the Rajnandgaon assembly seat.
Bhawna Bohra: BJP candidate for the Pandariya assembly seat.
Gautam Uike: BJP candidate for the Bhanupratappur assembly seat.
Renuka Singh: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate for the Bharatpur-Sonhat assembly seat.
Kawasi Lakhma: Janta Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC) candidate for the Keshkal assembly seat.
Over 1 lakh security personnel have been deployed to ensure the smooth conduction of the elections.
The phase 1 of Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections took place on November 7, the state recorded 70.87% voter turnout until 5 PM.
