A village man has been reportedly killed by Naxalites after he was suspected of being a police informer in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district, the local police confirmed on Sunday.
According to the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Narayanpur, Hemsagar Sidar, unnamed Naxalites murdered a village man – identified as Sukka Singh Kachalam – after suspecting him to be a police informer in the Rohtad village of the Narayanpur district.
The police said that the man was taken to the Rohtad forest late at night and murdered by the Maoists after he was accused of being a police informer. The body was identified by police officers after information about the incident was received by the Chhotedongar police station.
“Information was received in Chhotedongar under district Narayanpur, that Naxals killed a person named Sukka Singh Kachalam in village Rohtad yesterday late night. In this regard, the police verified the information, and after the verification, it was verified that Sukka Singh Kachalam was killed by Naxalites after they took him to Rohtad forest late at night,” ASP Sidar told news agency ANI.
ASP Sidar informed the media that a pamphlet was recovered from the area where the murder took place. In the pamphlet – which was issued by the Naxalite members of the Amdai Area Committee of the banned militant organization CPI (Maoist) – Kachalam was accused of being a police informant, and acting as an agent to send the villagers out.
The police said that the post-mortem proceedings of Kachalam’s body have been completed, and a case has been registered under relevant sections against the Naxals in the Chhotedongar police station.
“The post-mortem of the deceased have been completed and a case has been registered against the Naxals in the Chhotedongar police station under various sections of the Arms Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act,” the ASP said.
