East Coast Railway (ECoR) has decided to run a special train for the upcoming Chhath Puja, keeping in view the additional rush of passengers in regular trains and for the convenience of passengers. The special train will run between Puri and Patna.

The special train from Puri will run as 08449 Puri-Patna Special Train and will leave from Puri at 11.30 pm on Monday and Wednesday. Returning from its destination, the train will leave Patna as 08450 Patna-Puri Special. This will leave from Patna at 6 pm on Tuesday and Thursday. Notably, the Chhath festival is on November 19-20.

No paltform tickets for New Delhi and Anand Vihar

On the other hand, Indian Railways has temporarily, stopped the sale of platform tickets at New Delhi and Anand Vihar railway stations.  This decision came in order to control the extra rush of passengers and ensure better crowd management during the festive season.

On Monday, the Northern Railways division of Indian Railways said that there will be no sale of platform tickets at these two locations from November 13. This will be applicable till November 18.

However, Northern Railways provided some relief for the people coming to the stations just to assist the aged persons. The illiterate and woman passengers who are unable to take care of themselves will be exempted from this restriction.

Earlier in the month, the Delhi Division of Northern Railway announced 327 special train services for the festive season.

Notably, a platform ticket is a type of rail ticket issued by railway administration, permitting the bearer to access the platforms of a railway station, but not to board and use any train services. It allows non-passengers to enter the station area.
