Chennai Airport that was temporarily shut down due to heavy rains that caused flooding and waterlogging following Cyclone Michaung on the runways, has resumed the operations now.

According to the airport officials, the airport will be open for both arrivals and departures from 9 am onwards on Tuesday.
The airport authorities released a statement stating that the water level has dropped and the rain has stopped. On the other hand, four Civilian Firearms Teams (CFTs) and extra labour are clearing a lot of slush and dirt off the runways and taxiways.

The NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) will soon be withdrawn, according to the Chennai Team, which has verified that all CNS and ATM facilities are operating normally. Following notification of the restart of operations, airlines and other relevant parties have been requested to adjust their flight schedules.

Meanwhile, Air Traffic Management (ATM) will see and prioritise departures to clear the backlog of stranded passengers at the airport. A total of 21 aircraft are currently on the ground and around 1500 passengers in the terminals. The F&B Concessionaire has ensured that adequate food is available at all outlets.
