As per reports, a team of four forest officials have been attacked by a group of villages who belonged to the Shivpuri district, this morning. The crew was attacked by the villagers who thought they were “dacoits,” leading to the injury of a member of the forest department.

While chasing Asha, a female cheetah who had left the protected area, a four-person tracking team arrived in the forest close to Burakheda hamlet in the Pohari region.

According to official information, the team from Kuno National Park was grabbed by the villagers at around 4 am, mistaking them for ‘dacoits.’

Reportedly, three forest officials have sustained injuries in the attack and a vehicle has also been damaged. Following the incident, another team of forest officials was sent to the area to chase the cheetah. The KNP official also said that villagers fired into the air before attacking the team.

Notably, a case has been filed at the Pohari police station, as per the Divisional Forest Officer. And the efforts are still on to nab the people who were involved in the attack.
