Nirmal Chandra Roy, a candidate from Trinamool Congress won the Dhupgiri seat from BJPs Tapasi Roy by 4,000 seats.According to the Election Commission of India, the contest was very close since beginning. BJP candidate was leading the first three rounds. However, by the end of fourth round the Trinamool Congress candidate took the lead.
