Cyclone Biparjoy made its landfall in Gujarat yesterday evening. The cyclone brought along heavy rains with string winds. Its on its way towards Rajasthan now and the weather office has warned of heavy rainfall in the state too. As per the IMD, Biparjoy is likely to weaken today and turn into a depression towards the evening.

The ‘very severe’ cyclone which made the landfall in Gujarat turned into ‘severe cyclone’ around midnight. It is still active in some areas as a severe cyclone.

As per the IMD, the wind speed will gradually come down and will weaken further in the evening and turn into a depression.

The cyclone will be heading towards south Rajasthan in the evening. Rajasthan’s chief minister Ashok Gehlot has shared that the state is geared uo to face the cyclone and the rainfall.

Meanwhile, according to PTI, a cattle-rearer and his son died while trying to save their goats stuck in Bhavnagar district. Around 22 people have been injured due to storm, 23 animals have died, 524 trees have uprooted, several electric poles have fallen that has resulted in power failure in 950 villages in Gujarat.

PM Modi had a telephonic conversation between Gujarat’s CM Bhupendra Patel and took a stock of the situation. He also asked Patel to make arrangements for safety of lions of Gir.

As per the Gujarat government, 94,000 people have been relocated from coastal and low-lying areas so far and relief operations are still on.
