Madhya Pradesh is preparing for the upcoming Assembly elections. Political parties have already started their campaigns to vow votes. However, the campaigns resulted in a tussle between the state government and the opposition, which landed in a conversation. Similarly, the launch of a new healthcare programme in the state by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday played host to a fresh attack on the opposition parties over the promises of so-called freebies like water and electricity that caused damage to his BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), most recently in Karnataka.Whats BJP offering to the state as freebiesAhead of the state Assembly polls, BJP has announced a slew of schemes dubbed freebies by the opposition. Also, he said that the old squabbles among them indicate there is no guarantee of opposition unity and noted that people facing graft charges and out on bail are partnering with those who have been convicted of scams.Beware of false guarantees: PM Modi In his address, PM Modi said, “Beware of false (poll) guarantees being given by family-centric parties, including Congress. Such people have brought schemes of guarantees, though they dont have their own (political) guarantee.”The prime minister also claimed that false guarantees from the opposition that there is something wrong somewhere. He added that the promises by the opposition of free electricity, free travel, pensions, cheaper petrol, and jobs all have hidden agendas. What is the oppositions hidden agenda according to PMFurther, PM Modi said, “When they guarantee free electricity, it means they are readying to make electricity more expensive. Guaranteeing free travel means the future destruction of transport services in that state. Guarantee of raising pension means government employees in that state wont even get their salaries on time. Guaranteeing cheap petrol means they are readying to take money out of your pockets by hiking taxes and guarantee of increased employment means theyll come with policies which will ruin industries and businesses in the future.”PM Modi hails his governments effortsIn contrast, PM Modi has also hailed his governments efforts, claiming that they have provided free ration to over 80 crore people under the PM Gareeb Kalyan Yojana, free treatment under Ayushman Yojana to 50 crore poor beneficiaries, and many more. Moreover, the PMs remarks to the opposition, especially Congress, were made as a retort to the recent meeting of the anti-BJP parties held in Patna.Speaking of which, he said, “They do not have the guarantee of taking the normal family of the country forward. Those who are facing corruption charges are out on bail. They are together with those who are sentenced for scams.”
