Another student in Rajasthan’s Kota allegedly died by suicide, taking the death toll to 26 this year, said the police officials on Monday.
Reportedly, this is the second such shocking case in the past two weeks that happened in the coaching hub of Rajasthan.
According to the initial inquiry, the police said that the girl, who is said to be a minor, consumed poison. However, the reason behind her action is yet to be known.
The deceased student was a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Mau area, said the police.
Briefing about the suicide, Additional Superintendent of Police Bhagwat Singh Hinger said that the girl consumed poison. Her body has been sent for post-mortem.
Further, investigation is underway into this case.
Two weeks ago, a 16-year-old student, who was preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) died by suicide by hanging herself in Rajasthan’s Kota.
Notably, almost two lakh students flock to Kota annually, hoping to qualify for competitive exams like the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) and the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).
As per information, a total of 26 students have died by suicide in Kota in just eight months this year.
