Another incident of electrocution led to a death in the national capital. A 17-year-old boy died in Delhi’s south-east Taimoor Nagar after suffering an electric shock, said the police officials.

The deceased was identified as Sohail.

How Sohail died?

On visiting the spot of the incident, the police found out that there was a problem of waterlogging in the area amid the heavy downpour that happened recently. The boy suffered the electric shock as snapped live and naked wires were submerged in the water, a senior police official said.

The tragic incident took place on Sunday around noon, the official said. The teen was rushed to the hospital, where the doctors declared he was brought dead.

Taking notes from the incident a case has been registered in connection with the incident, the police added.

A similar incident at the New Delhi railway station

A similar incident happened that very day at the New Delhi railway station. A woman, identified as Sakshi Ahuja, died after getting electrocuted due to waterlogging amid rains.

According to the police, she reached the station around 5 am along with two women and three children. She held on to an electric pole to avid pebbles when she suffered a huge electric shock, causing her death.

Sakshi was taken to the hospital by the onlookers, where she was declared dead by the doctor.

The police said, “Immediately, they, along with injured Sakshi Ahuja’s sister Madhvi Chopta, took her to LHMC (Lady Hardinge Medical College) hospital where the doctor declared her brought dead.”

Case was registered based on the complaint by the victim’s sister

After the shocking demise of Sakshi due to electrocution, her sister Madhvi Chopra has registered a complaint alleging negligence by concerned authorities, based on which a case was filed, the police said.

The police are investigating the incident and who is responsible for the negligence.

As per the news agency PTI, the National Human Rights Commission today sent notices over Sakshi’s death and said in a statement that besides civic and electricity authorities, the Indian Railways also “seemingly failed to keep a vigil on such life-threatening lapses” at the station – which is one of the busiest public places of Delhi.
