Former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray while addressing a public meeting in Jalgaon on Monday made a big remark on the opening of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and has ignited another row of controversy. While speaking at the event, Thackeray said that another ‘Godhara-like’ incident may take place as huge number of people will visit the place to witness the historic event. The historic event of opening of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya is all set to open in January 2024.

Notably, in 2002, ‘Kar sevaks’ who were returning from Ayodhya were set ablaze on their way to Gujarat’s Godhra station, leading to deaths of several people which initiated the riots in the state.

Here’s what Uddhav Thackeray said:

“In the coming days, Ram Mandir will be inaugurated…There may be a possibility that many Hindus will be called from all over the country for the inauguration and after the ceremony is over, they can do something like the Godhra incident while the people return…,” he said.

The controversial statement from former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray comes at time when Central government has left no stone unturned for the success of G20 Summit and controversy over the slang used by Udhayanidhi over ‘Sanatan Dharma.’ However, Thackeray has not commented anything on this. But the row has divided the political parties.
