According to the Union environment ministry, another female cheetah from South Africa, named Daksha, died in Madhya Pradeshs Kuno National Park on Tuesday, following a violent interaction with a male during a mating attempt.In the past month and a half, three cheetahs died in the park. Sasha, a cheetah from Namibia, died of kidney disease on March 27, and Uday, a cheetah from South Africa, died of the same condition on April 13. Conservationists and wildlife specialists are also questioning the Kuno National Parks carrying capacity and the choice to maintain the cheetahs in walled cages in light of the sudden deaths.As per the official statement by the ministry, Daksha was found fatally injured by the monitoring team at 10:45 am on Tuesday. Although veterinarians gave her the best treatment, but she died at noon.One of the 12 cheetahs imported from South Africa this year, Daksha, was quarantined before being released in the sizable enclosure. She was kept in two cages with a gate separating them, along with two other males named Agni and Vayu. Daksha was discovered with numerous wounds on the morning of May 9. She received treatment from the neighbourhood vet but passed very shortly after. Moreover, one of the male cheetahs has been hurt.Reportedly, Sasha, a 6-year-old female from Namibia became ill in late January. According to the veterinary team, she was suffering from chronic renal insufficiency. Initially, she was stabilised by the veterinary team at Kuno but later died in March. The reports said that chronic renal failure is common among captive cheetahs and many other captive species.In addition to the four cubs who were born there, eight female and nine male cheetahs remain at Kuno after Daksha passed.
