Almost 400 bikes were gutted in a huge fire that broke out in a bike showroom in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada on Thursday. According to the sources, the cause of fire is said to be a short circuit. However, no loss of life has been reported in the incident.

The fire broke out in TVS showroom and godown in the wee hours of Thursday in KP Nagar area off Chennai-Kolkata national highway.

While talking to ANI, Sanakarao, District Fire Officer, said, “When we reached, the showroom was entirely engulfed in fire and smoke. We controlled the fire in one and a half hours. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation. Out of 1000, 400-500 vehicles were gutted in the fire.”

The police officials also said that the fire initiated from the first floor of the showroom and soon spread to adjoining godown. Since the showroom and the godown were located close to each other, a large number of vehicles were parked there. Sources claimed that this was the main hub of TVS in Vijayawada and united Krishna district. Soon after getting the information from one of the securities personnels, at least five fire engines rushed to the spot. Reportedly, the loss has been estimated at ₹15 crore.

Police has registered the case and has initiated the investigation.
