Rahul Gandhi to visit violence-hit Manipur

Taking it to Twitter, Congress’ general secretary announced Gandhi’s Manipur visit. He wrote, “Manipur has been burning for nearly two months, and desperately needs a healing touch so that the society can move from conflict to peace. This is a humanitarian tragedy and it is our responsibility to be a force of love, not hate.”

Violence in Manipur was first gripped on May 3 amid the clashes between the Meitei community and the Kuki tribe, killing over 110 people and thousands of people are displayed.

Congress takes a swipe at PM Modi and BJP government

Taking notes from the situation, Rahul took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s ‘silence’ over the violence. In a tweet, he slammed the prime minister and wrote, “An all-party meeting is called when the Prime Minister is not in the country. It is clear..this meeting is not important for the Prime Minister.”

Moreover, Union Minister Amit Shah’s all-party meeting, held on June 24, in PM Modi’s absence also sparked a conversation. The Congress had said that it only showed Modi’s “cowardice and unwillingness to confront his failures”, and the BJP government’s “lack of seriousness” on the subject.

Demand for the immediate resignation of CM Biren Singh

The situation in Manipur still goes now, with violence reported from parts of the state. Amid the same, several legislators from the state, including those from the BJP, have been demanding the resignation of chief minister N. Biren Singh, accusing him of incompetence and acting in a partisan manner.
