As Holi, the festival of colors, approaches, liquor sellers in Bihar resort to new and innovative ways to sell and consume alcohol, despite the state’s prohibition laws. However, one such trick used by a liquor baron recently has left many surprised and shocked.

146 bottles of foreign liquor hidden in the baron

In an attempt to evade the police and consume liquor, the baron had hidden 146 bottles of foreign liquor inside the coffin of an ambulance disguised as a dead body. Upon searching the ambulance, the police discovered that the coffin was filled with liquor bottles instead of a dead body. 

The driver-businessman attempted to flee the scene, but the police were able to catch him. Two businessmen, including the liquor baron, were arrested for transporting an illegal stock of alcohol.

Transporting the liquor from Jharkhand to Muzaffarpur

According to police sources, they were intercepted that the accused were transporting the liquor from Jharkhand to Muzaffarpur, Bihar. One of the businessmen was identified as Punal Kumar, a resident of Bokaro, and the other as Madan Sharma alias Mishra, a resident of Giridih.

Vehicle-checking campaigns organized to catch smugglers

The police could track down the vehicle based on a secret informant’s tip-off. In preparation for the Holi festival, the police have increased their presence across the state and are conducting thorough checks on all vehicles passing through the borders. 

The Rajgir police station chief, Mohammad Mustaq Ahmed, said that the police had received information that a significant quantity of liquor was being transported to Bihar in an ambulance from Ranchi. The police began their vehicle-checking campaign based on this information and were able to intercept the ambulance carrying the illegal liquor.

The police’s vigilance in stopping the ambulance carrying liquor prevented the illegal distribution of alcohol, which could have led to social and health problems.

Conclusion 

Using an ambulance to smuggle liquor is an unprecedented and shocking incident. It highlights the desperate measures some individuals will take to consume and sell alcohol in Bihar. The police confiscated the ambulance and the illegal stock of alcohol and took the accused into custody.
