On Friday, the former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav, accused the state government of discrimination against the backward classes. In a tweet, Yadav questioned why shoes were removed from members of the OBC commission when they submitted a report on OBC reservation in municipal elections to CM Yogi.

Yadav’s allegations of discrimination

He alleged that CM Yogi and some of his special people attended the meeting wearing shoes. A photo of the meeting surfaced where some people wore shoes while others did not.

Yadav’s tweet came after the Yogi cabinet approved the 350-page report submitted by the OBC commission.

Yadav criticised the Yogi cabinet’s approval of the OBC commission’s report, accusing the government of discriminating against backward and Dalit communities. He also called for CM Yogi to educate himself on socialism. Yadav accused the BJP of misusing power, weakening constitutional institutions, and intimidating opposition parties with government agencies like ED, Income Tax, and CBI.

Yadav accused the BJP of trying to intimidate people with bulldozers and said that every section of society was troubled due to their misdeeds.

Criticisms of BJP’s policies and promises by Yadav

Yadav criticised the BJP government for the lack of employment opportunities and the rising cost of living, blaming them for inflation. He also questioned the BJP’s promise of doubling farmers’ income, saying it had not been fulfilled. He claimed that not a single unit of electricity had been produced during the BJP’s rule, and the employment rate was far from the truth.

Yadav’s criticisms are not new, as he has been a vocal opponent of the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh. He has accused them of ignoring the needs of the people and failing to address the state’s economic challenges.

His comments come ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where he believes the BJP will lose all 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh and the Samajwadi Party will be victorious.

Conclusion

Yadav’s criticisms and accusations against the UP government highlight the ongoing political tensions in the state. The upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be a critical test for the BJP and the Samajwadi Party.
