Ajit Pawar was one of nine rebel MLAs who Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) banned from serving as ministers in the Shinde-Fadnavis administration after they were sworn in on Sunday. And now in the latest move, Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar will inaugurate a new NCP party office near Mantralaya in Mumbai.

Notably, the Maharashtra legislative assembly has 288 members altogether, and a majority of 145 is required to win the trust vote. The new partnership between Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis grew to 164 after Uddhav Thackeray was overthrown by Shinde and his followers in 2022. The NDA government’s seats are also set to surpass 200 following Ajit Pawar’s proposal. The MahaVikas Aghadi coalition of the Congress, NCP, and Shiv Sena (UBT) has 74 seats left. Only 16 Shiv Sena (UBT), 13 NCP-Sharad Pawar, and 45 Congress MLAs remain to back the MVA.
