In a swift action towards the Ahmedabad high-end car accident, Gujarat police have arrested the car driver and his father who crushed nine people to death on ISKCON Bridge on July 20.

According to the information, Gujarat police took the accused Tathya Patel, and his father Pragnesh to the crime spot at Sarkhej-Gandhinagar (SG) highway. The accused was seen apologising with folded hands after being brought to the spot.

It is to be noted here that the accused Tathya Patel was driving the high-end car at the speed of 160/ kmph, as per sources.

What happened during the accident?

According to the sources, the accident took place at around 1 am at the ISKCON bridge on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar highway when a speeding high-end car hit a crowd gathered on the bridge following an accident between another vehicle and a truck.

Here’s what the Gujarat CM said

Taking note of the accident, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced a compensation of ₹4 lakh to the kin of the deceased and ₹50,000 to the injured and also instructed the Health Minister Rushikesh Patel to reach Sola Civil Hospital to help the families of the victims, who reached there and assisted in the arrangements, including treatment.

Apart from this, in the high-level meeting, the officials were instructed to deal with the case on a priority basis and have asked to present the chargesheet within a week. As per officials, the case will be tried in the fast-track court by appointing a special public prosecutor.
