In a shocking incident, a tire dealer in Rakabganj, Agra, received multiple calls demanding extortion of INR 50 lakh. The calls came from different numbers, with the first being made in a woman’s voice.

The caller demanded that the money be paid to Anees Mehta, who the tire dealer did not know. When he refused to pay, the caller threatened to kill him. Two more calls followed, with the caller warning the dealer that his son in Jaipur would be harmed if he did not pay up.

The calls were made to suggest the involvement of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has been known to use such tactics in the past.

Similarities to previous extortion cases by Lawrence Bishnoi gang

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, active in Jaipur, has been involved in several extortion cases. In one such case, a hotelier in Jaipur was asked to pay INR 5 crore as extortion money. When he refused, the gang members opened indiscriminate fire at his hotel, causing chaos and panic.

Three members of the gang were subsequently arrested in Agra. The hotelier was warned that the “trailer would have to be shown,” which refers to a video that the gang members create to intimidate their targets.

Police investigation and possible suspects

The police have registered a case against the unknown caller and are investigating the matter. They are looking into the possible involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang or any other criminal outfit. The fact that the tire dealer’s son studies in Jaipur has added to the worries of his family members, who fear for their safety. The police are also exploring the possibility of the caller being a local criminal using the gang’s name to scare the dealer into paying up.

The incident highlights the growing menace of organised crime in India and the need for stricter law enforcement measures to tackle it. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has been involved in several high-profile cases, and their modus operandi involves using fear and intimidation to extort money from their targets. The incident also shows the importance of raising awareness about such criminal activities and taking adequate measures to protect oneself.
